About The Founder

Who we are

In February 2023, as a master’s student at Georgia Tech weeks away from graduation, Vishesh Gattani faced a pivotal moment. Having spent years balancing rigorous engineering coursework, internships, extracurriculars, and interviews—including a 10-round process with his dream company—life seemed on track. But when a family crisis struck, he found himself taking on new responsibilities to care for his loved ones while trying to complete his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Through these challenges, a deeper understanding emerged: the value of strong mentorship and guidance through difficult times. During these hurdles, Vishesh channeled his drive, resilience, and passion for education to launch Tutor Jackets and make a positive difference. Learn More
The founder’s journey with tutoring began much earlier, during middle school, when he started peer tutoring for Junior Beta Club community service. By high school, he had built a small private tutoring practice, and his first paycheck from helping students succeed became a defining moment. This early experience solidified his passion for education, a passion that continued into college, where summers and breaks were spent mentoring younger students on their own academic careers. The shift to online tutoring during the COVID-19 pandemic provided firsthand insights into the struggles of students and teachers alike, and prompted his development of more adaptable, student-centered approaches to online teaching.

During this period Tutor Jackets’ motto was born: Support For Students, By Students. Vishesh recognized the unique value of having recently navigated the academic system, from AP courses to SAT prep, and from college applications to scholarship opportunities. Through guiding his own students, he saw the importance of mentorship—helping students not only with academic success, but also with avoiding pitfalls and keeping doors open for their future.

As Tutor Jackets grew, the founder applied the same rigorous standards learned from their engineering technical interview experience to vet new tutors. Only Highest-Honors Georgia Tech students with a track record of excellence and a passion for teaching would join the team. Each tutor is chosen for their technical expertise, communication skills, and core character, ensuring that Tutor Jackets provides the best mentorship and guidance for the next generation of STEM leaders.

Today, Tutor Jackets has helped over 50 students achieve their academic goals, from SAT score boosts of over 250 points to passing classes in order to remain eligible for sports, to raising borderline failing grades to As in weeks. The founder’s journey, rooted in personal experience and a genuine desire to help, continues to shape Tutor Jackets’ mission: to guide students with empathy, expertise, and the belief that every student can succeed with the right support.
